This September, PPMU was pleased to host a wonderful ministry from the United States – Foundations for Christ. Their ministry is serving Christ in East Africa by saving lives via the installation of concrete floors in homes of impoverished families. Did you know dirt floors become a breeding ground for mosquitos, bacteria, and other parasites and the dust from the dirt floors causes them to be inhaled by those living in the homes? This is a health crisis for those living in poverty. Concrete floors installed by Foundations for Christ change this reality and can save the lives of over 20,000 children every year!

President and CEO of Foundations for Christ, Pastor Tim Zoltowski along with his friend Jonathan, an English teacher from Louisiana, spent two days at PPMU. It was a time of joy, laughter, and ministry knowledge-sharing. The men did not come empty-handed either! They brought gifts of food and soccer balls for the children. They even lent a hand with chopping firewood for our cooks and helped serve lunch to the kids. The children showed their love for Tim and Jonathan with joyous group hugs!

"In the midst of serving the Lord, it is nice to remember the joy of play that is itself a ministry. The children were so energetic and excited to have us participate, it caused us to not realize how tired and sore we had become!" - Pastor Tim Zoltowski, after playing soccer with the PPMU children.

Innocent gave Tim and Jonathan a full tour of our orphanage school. They were impressed with the cleanliness of the dormitories as well as the overall love and spiritual care our kids are receiving. Our staff shared 11:00 a.m. tea with our guests where they had the opportunity to share and compare teaching techniques with Jonathan. It's not every day you have an English teacher from the U.S. in your midst to discuss topics such as curriculum, testing, student support/challenges, etc.

"I was very impressed with the staff at the orphanage and how well the children responded to us as visitors and to the teachers and staff at Progressive Ministries. They are clearly loved and cared for in ways that will have lasting impacts on their lives. The children all seemed happy and healthy and were very well cared for and they have a heart for Jesus which I am sure makes Him smile in Heaven." - A high compliment from Pastor Tim about PPMU.

Innocent took Tim and Jonathan up to the hill-country for a visit to the Batwa community. PPMU delivers much needed food to the Batwa via our Gleaning ministry. The men were struck by the health issues the Batwa suffer from parasites and jiggers. This is from living in homes with dirt floors and poor ventilation. Pastor Tim was deeply moved and desires to extend his ministry to those in need in Kabale.

Pastor Tim shared the Word of God during a time of praise and worship with the kids before departing. The kids did not want him or Jonthan to leave. After a long, but fulfilling two days, our new friends finished their visit at our Director's home for dinner. Innocent's wife, Karungi prepared a feast including beef stew, chicken, green vegetables, potatoes, and mashed plantains. Tim and Jonathan loved the meal.

What a blessing to have Foundations For Christ as fellow partners in Christ's work. Our two ministries committed to encourage and support one another going forward. Pastor Tim is already planning a trip back to Kabale in the spring of 2024.
