One of the greatest challenges poor children around the world face is not having access to clean water. Without it, children are forced to haul water long distances from rivers which are often polluted and unsafe to drink. Many preventable health issues can be addressed by simply having a clean water source. This caused PPMU to ask the question, "How can we provide a consistent, clean source of water to our children and staff?"

The challenge, when we started to address this need, was first daring to believe God would provide a means as well as a source. Fortunately, the groundwater table in Kabale, Uganda is ideal for drilling a deep water wells, but the cost was upwards of $10,000 (US). We stepped out in faith and because of the generosity of our beloved donors, the funds were raised. Our on-premise well was completed and fully operational in 2019.

We could not foresee the impact our water well would have on our school during the COVID19 pandemic. The Ugandan government "locked down" schools much like the United States. Being a boarding school/orphanage, our fourth - seventh grade students were not allowed to leave the campus. Having access to clean water on-premise, was literally life-saving for our kids and staff. Since kindergarten - third grade do not board, they were forced to remain at home until restrictions were lifted. God surely demonstrated His love for us by seeing that our water well was up and running prior to the pandemic.

Clean, beautiul, life-giving water flows from our 100 meter deep well today. PPMU dared to believe and took one more step towards self-sustainability. If you'd like to take the "dare" with us and help children reach their full potential, please visit our Giving page and make a much appreciated donation today!
