This November, our ministry Founder and Director, Innocent Mucunguzi was gifted the opportunity to attend the 2022 Global Leadership Summit in Kampala, Uganda. Innocent is passionate about strong leadership and shared these key insights he took away from the event:

  1. Servant leadership is a journey that calls for flexibility and tolerance. Understanding what employees go through on daily basis will build a strong relationship between employees and management.
  2. It's good to be an empathetic and sympathetic leader, but it must not be done at the expense of what the organization stands for.
  3. Leadership calls for sacrifice, which is hard for most leaders across the globe.

Innocent wasted no time in implementing what he learned. Upon his return, he shared his insights with the PPMU leadership team and began what they are calling "Job Rotation" at the ministry. They will now come along side ministry staff and help with tasks like cooking, chopping firewood, and cleaning. Innocent said, "Leaders should do what they have not done before in order to appreciate their staff who carry the daily responsibility for these types of tasks."

What a great example these leaders are to the children and staff!
